Farlowe, Chris
Chris Farlowe has literally always been where the music was played. Whether with Otis Redding, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, The Who, Led Zeppelin or the Rolling Stones – the man with the expressive voice was mostly present when a further chapter of what later became musical history was being written. The highlight of his professional career came when he became the front man for Jon Hiseman’s band Colosseum, which set new standards in the late 60s with its revolutionary combination of rock and jazz, and took a worldwide audience by storm. After the band’s successful comeback, Clem Clempson, Colosseum’s guitarist, had the idea of working together with Chris Farlowe in the studio for the first time for many years to record his solo-album. The result, simply and aptly entitled “The Voice”, manages to surprise not only with numerous blues gems, but also with the evergreen “Handbags and Gladrags”, which is performed using an entirely new rhythm.
