| Dog-lover Clyde 'The Slyde' Sutliff quit studying classical music and now has the world of jazz at his feet. The trumpeter has managed to gather a handful of first class musicians from his home area of San Francisco Bay to play exactly what he likes, namely jazz. In true hard bop fashion, his exciting debut album, "Hair Of The Dog", is packed with juicy riffs, funky rhythms played on the nostalgically cool Fender-Rhodes-Piano and wonderful saxophone surges delivered by Ron Graham (as) and Joshi Marshall (ts), which, as one critic put it, “don’t waste their time trying to become new blueprints of jazz history.” |
