| Efrat Alony. Vocals. Composer.
Born 1975 in Haifa, Israel, Efrat took interest in music from a very young age.
The interest in jazz arose when she studied at „Rimon school of jazz and contemporary music” near Tel-Aviv, where she concentrated on composition and arrangement (for jazz as well as for classical ensembles). Her studies took her to „Berklee college of Music” in Boston, USA and to the College of Music „Hanns Eisler” in Berlin, Germany, where she continued her composition studies with the British composer Steve Gray, as well as her jazz and classical singing studies. She graduated in 2002.
She also took a summer workshop in the “Lake Placid Institute” on a scholarship and studied with jazz greats such as Bob Brookmeyer, Joe Lovano, Kenny Werner and Billy Hart.
Aside of being the co-leader of “Alony”, which has toured Germany, Irland ,Israel and the USA, Efrat has been taking part as a soloist and composer in different projects such as the
“Sunday Night Orchestra”- a renowned german big-band, led by the trombonist and composer
Ed Partyka. This project was recorded by the “Bayerischer Rundfunk” (Bavarian Radio)
Efrat has worked as a musical director and vocal coach for various theatre productions, such as the play “saints and singing”, directed by the famous American director Robert Wilson, that toured all over Europe. |
