Reinke, Mark
Mark Reinke. Pianist. Keyboarder. Composer.

Pianist Mark Reinke supports Efrat Alony perfectly, as well as delivering several thoughtful and lucid solos. He´s a pianist who knows there are eighty eight notes to work with and he maintains his beautiful clear tone across the entire instrument. His compositions follow a logic of their own too, in which the surprising is transformed into the inevitable: in this he reminds me of Kenny Wheeler." Steve Gray composer and arranger

Born in Düsseldorf in 1976, Mark Reinke started playing the piano at the age of 6. After some years of classical training he soon became interested in Jazz and started playing in some local bands. In 1995 he began his studies of Music in the Dutch city of Arnheim with the Jazz pianist Rob van den Broek. He then continued his studies at the College of Music “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin with the Japanese pianist Aki Takase and British composer Steve Gray, where in 2001 he graduated with honours. During this time he also took a summer course at the renowned “Berklee college of Music” on a scholarship and studied with the famous Jazz pianist Richie Beirach.

Aside of being the co-leader of Alony he plays with the “Katja Riemann Oktett” and is the pianist and musical director of singer Sonja Kandels and leads his own trio “short circuit”.

He has worked as a pianist and musical director for various theatre productions, such as the play “saints and singing”, directed by the famous American director Robert Wilson, that toured all over Europe.
